GROW WITH US

We believe that social connection is a basic human need, just as essential to our overall health and wellbeing as eating and breathing.

We also believe that people of all ages need meaningful connections. Help us provide funding for our 1st Friendship Safe Space, where generations can connect and thrive!

ABOUT US

Welcome to Connect 2 Rise, a community-driven initiative founded with a powerful vision: combating loneliness and social isolation through meaningful connections and support networks.

We are combating loneliness, creating safe spaces, communities, and promoting positive mental health for all people.

We want to change the way the world talks and think about loneliness. We know that loneliness can affect anyone – from teenagers and young adults to new parents, caregivers, recently bereaved, aging adults, from students starting at university to older people and those with disabilities, from those moving to a new area of the country to starting a new job at a company.

Amidst the relentless demands and pressures of modern life, it's all too easy for people to become consumed by their personal struggles, inadvertently overlooking the profound opportunities to build friendships, cherish family bonds, provide mentorship, and contribute through volunteering. But now, in this critical moment, we must awaken to the undeniable truth: human connection is not merely a luxury, but a fundamental necessity for our well-being and survival. By proactively engaging with one another and offering mutual support, we not only have the power to nurture and build communities that are rich in resilience and empathy but to also make a less lonely world place for all.

Let's seize this opportunity to make meaningful human connections our highest priority, ensuring that no one is left to navigate life's challenges alone. Loneliness is more than just a feeling, it has real physical and mental impacts that often never discussed. Lack of social connection now carries an equivalent, or even greater, risk of early death as other better-known risk factors – such as smoking, excessive drinking, physical inactivity, obesity, and air pollution. Through a combination of one to one support, social groups, events, and more, we aim to create support networks and build communities between isolated people and generations.

why are we tackling loneliness & SOCIAL ISOLATION?

Social Isolation & Loneliness Is Widespread

Simply put, people are lonely and want to connect. Over 60% of adults in the United States report feeling lonely. To break it down further, 1 in 4 older people are experiencing social isolation and between 5% and 15% of adolescents experiencing loneliness.

Mental Health Impacts Have Real Health Consequences

Loneliness and social isolation have been linked to poorer cognitive function and higher risk for Dementia and Alzheimer's disease.

Loneliness Does Not Discriminate

Loneliness is a widespread issue affecting people across various social demographics regardless of income, race, religion, or other factors. Young adults aged 18 to 22 and senior citizens are identified as the loneliest age groups. Teens find it challenging to form lasting friendships, while single women, single men, and single mothers also experience loneliness. Additionally, seniors and aging adults often feel forgotten and are mainly visited during the holidays.

Mental Health Is A Public Health Issue

In today's world, there is a growing need for accessible therapy options, robust social support systems, and comprehensive mental health support.
Poor mental health influences people's relationships with their children, spouses, relatives, friends, and co-workers. Often, poor mental health leads to problems such as social isolation, which disrupts a person's communication and interactions with others.
